Vietnam to partner with Airbus to produce aircraft spare parts

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam proposes a partnership between Airbus and Aerospace Engineering Services JSC, boosting Vietnam’s aerospace industry. The proposal suggests building a facility to produce spare parts for aircraft, which would contribute to the development of the Vietnamese air transport industry.

Here are some key takeaways:

  • Airbus partners with AESC to produce aircraft spare parts
  • Facility to specialize in A320 wiring harnesses
  • Boost for Vietnam’s aerospace industry

AESC is a Vietnamese-owned company founded in 2008, and it is already certified as a Part 145 repair station by the European Aviation Safety Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration. This puts the company in a strong position to produce aircraft spare parts for Airbus.

Partnership between Airbus and AESC

The partnership between Airbus and AESC could start with the production of aircraft wiring harnesses installed in the A320/A321, which are among the most widely used aircraft models in Vietnam. This move would align with Airbus’s plan to find a partner to establish a production facility in Vietnam.

Airbus CEO Tom Enders met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in July 2015 to discuss the expansion of cooperation with Vietnamese partners in producing aircraft spare parts. The facility to be established in Vietnam will specialize in producing the wiring harness for the A320 and could potentially also produce composite spare parts for the A330 and A350 XWB models.

Impact on Vietnamese aerospace industry

This partnership could be a significant boost for the Vietnamese aerospace industry, which currently operates 56 A321, 31 A320, 10 A330, and 350 aircraft models, according to data from CAAV. The establishment of a spare parts production facility in Vietnam would mean that the country would not need to import all of the necessary components, and this would lead to a more efficient and cost-effective approach to aircraft maintenance.

Overall, the proposed partnership between Airbus and AESC is a significant development for Vietnam’s aerospace industry. By producing aircraft spare parts, the country can establish itself as a significant player in the global market and contribute to the growth of the industry as a whole.
